About Black Forest Horses:

The Black Forest Horse (Schwarzwälder Kaltblut) is a rare draft horse breed from the Black Forest region of southern Germany. This ancient breed was developed in the 15th century for working in the steep, forested mountains. Black Forest Horses are known for their sure-footedness, strength, and calm temperament. The breed is characterized by its distinctive coloring: a dark chestnut (liver chestnut) body with a striking flaxen (light blonde) mane and tail. They typically stand 14.2-15.2 hands high, making them smaller than many draft breeds but incredibly strong for their size. The breed nearly became extinct in the 1980s with only 160 horses remaining, but dedicated conservation efforts have helped increase numbers. Today they're still considered endangered and are treasured for their beauty, gentle nature, and historical significance!

Manufactured in China. Breyer Corral Pals by CollectA support awareness of rare and endangered horse breeds. Jack's has a long standing history of being a Blue Ribbon Breyer dealer since 1994. Ages 3+
